How does tension arise from posture in pregnancy & beyond?

Pregnancy and post birth dramatically changes your posture, in order to counter-balance the excess forward weight of carrying your baby, which can manifest in the following symptoms:

Lower Back Pain or Sciatica:

The back arches, which increases pressure on the muscles, joints and sometimes the nerves of the lower back and pelvis (sciatica).

Flared Ribcage and Core Weakness :

To make space for the baby, the ribcage and core muscles widen.

Neck Tension:

As the lower back arches the neck can travel forward

Shoulder Tension:

Carrying baby or breastfeeding can tighten the chest and shoulder muscles

Hip /Buttock Tension:

Carrying baby, particuarly on one side after birth.

Everything Tension:

Your body is essentially running a marathon in the background every day, increasing blood flow, supporting growth, and adapting your posture, tension builds more quickly, and recovery is slower, which is why even small tasks can leave you exhausted.

This is why gentle, supportive treatment can help you cope more easily with the physical toll of pregnancy and beyond, and help ease your body back to a more comfortable state.
